Some index entries aren't appearing in compiled Responsive HTML 5 Help

I'm generating a Responsive HTML5 Help project. I've got several keywords in my index that don't appear in the compiled Help's index. Can anyone suggest how I can resolve this?

Here's a screen shot of my Index pod in RH:

Here's a screen shot of the Index in the compiled Help. You can see that DB-APP-H-CH_50549 is not appearing.

RoboHelp 2019 - Version Control

How does version control work in RoboHelp 2019 for GIT??? In a multi-author environment, will it automatically check out and lock files that are being edited? Or will users have to manually notify each other what they're working on and/or manually merge changes when there are conflicts?

Also, is there a plan - and timeline (and if so, when?) - to deliver version control via RoboSource Control (3.1 or maybe RSC 2019????) and Microsoft SCC API (for example, Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express)?

Mini TOC Robohelp 2019

I've converted my RH17 project to RH19.

The mini TOC doesn't seem to work in 19. Is this something that Adobe is still working on?

  1. There doesn't seem to be an option to collapse, selecting "Show TOC in expanded form" doesn't do anything
  2. Why are the entries truncated?

Is there another way I can manage the mini-toc?

I've included screenshots.

RoboHelp 2019 & Internet Explorer 11 issue

We are having issues displaying RoboHelp 2019 non-classic sites via Internet Explorer (11) over the intranet.

We have several RoboHelp 2017 sites hosted via IIS 7.5 on a Windows web server (over intranet).

We are beginning to use RoboHelp 2019 (classic & non-classic), using WebHelp and Responsive HTML5.

The 2019 classic sites have no issues displaying.

The 2019 non-classic sites are NOT viewable in Internet Explorer 11 over the intranet.  A blank page with 4 grey squares appears.

The 2019 non-classic sites ARE viewable in Chrome over the intranet.

The 2019 non-classic sites do display successfully locally on the web server.

However, when these sites are 1st accessed locally on the web server in IE, a HTTP 500.19 error appears.

The URL is http://localhost:97

When the IE browser is refreshed, a login screen prompt appears.  After entering login information, the page displays.

The URL changes to http://localhost:97/#t=MainProject%2FSplash.htm

But the site is still not viewable over the intranet in IE.  It's a blank page with 4 grey squares.

We tried both URL's http://servername:97& http://servername:97/#t=MainProject%2FSplash.htmbut neither work.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Thanks

Table Cell Alignment centers content even though set to Top

I found another topic on this posted in May http://forums.adobe.com/message/1976717#1976717

I am working in RH 8 and generating WebHelp

I have a lot of tables in various topics in my project.

Up until yesterday, the tables were working fine.

Yesterday, the table alignment for new tables started acting odd.

They all vertically align content in tables to the center even though the alignment is set for top.

This happens for tables in new topics and if I add a table into an existing topic (where table content is aligned correctly).

The response on the linked posting above was that it is a bug in RH 8 and does not affect the compiled help.

In my project, the source view looks fine (aligned to TOP), but when displayed in the Preview Topic view the alignment is center.

So, after seeing the post above, I generated the help and the vertical alignment still shows centered in compiled WebHelp.

I also generated HTML help to see if this is a WebHelp issue and the vertical alignment still shows centered in compiled HTML help.

I copied one of the tables from a prior topic that is aligned correctly into one of my new topics from yesterday and the alignment is fine for that table.

I checked the Header code in HTML and there is no table related code.

I checked the HTML code for the table and it has vertical-align: top.

Does anyone have any other thoughts on how to research this problem or what the actual problem is?

As a workaround right now, I am copying an existing table from an existing topic that is aligned correctly and so far it is working.

As always - thanks for any assistance.

blank TOC

Hello,

I have been using RoboHelp 8 to make a simple project in order to learn how to use CSH.  Everything has been working fine and I can generate my project no problem.  Everything works just as expected when opened in both IE and Firefox.  The problem I am having is when I try to use the command line compiler for my project.  I can compile my project fine, all the files go to the correct location, but the TOC is blank when opened in IE or Firefox.  Everything else works as normal and everything appears normal other than a blank TOC.  If I could get some direction and reasoning as to why this is happening, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Disappearing Topics

Note: This topic may be related to the "Disappearing Topic" topic posted in 2008. That topic indicated a WebHelp topic could disappear if it had nested div tags. The solution was to remove the nested div tags.

I am using RH 2015 to produce WebHelp. We are using Source Control, but I am currently the only one making help updates. In the last several years, I have noticed 3 topics disappear from the help.  One disappeared frequently enough that I started checking to see if it was present or missing each time I generated the help. I'm not sure what changed, but I have not had any issues with that topic in months.  Now, two other topics are randomly disappearing. One has nested div tags. The nested div tags are resulting from using nested DHTML drop-down text. The div tags do not appear in the HTML view within RH; they do appear in the generated web page in the output.  If possible, I would prefer not to have to stop using nested DHTML drop-down text.  I have several topics with nested DHTML drop-down text.  This is the only one that is disappearing (at least that I have noticed).

The other topic that is disappearing does NOT have any nested div tags (no nested DHTML drop-down text either).  For this reason, this post is different from the similar post 10 years ago.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Other details: When I noticed a topic was missing from the output, I looked for the topic in the RH project.  It did not appear in the Topic List.  It did not appear in the Project Manager. The topic name did appear in the TOC with a red X, indicating the topic was missing.  When I looked in my local copy of the folder where the files are stored outside of RH, the topic was present.  Using the Project Manager tab, I re-imported the topic.  I checked the topic to see if I needed to re-add Index terms.  I did not; they were still present. I regenerated the WebHelp output. The two missing topics are now present.  Other topics in the generated output include links to these topics.  The links still work, and I did not have to re-add/re-create the links.

Any idea what may be causing these topics to randomly disappear?  Thanks!

Merged Help topics are missing when I generate the output

I am using RoboHelp 2015 V 12.0.4.460

I have created a Master Project and created mergedHelp topics in the TOC. When I create the output, not all the mergedHelp topics are displaying. I've searched and red topics in the Forum but can't find a solution.

I'm using an output file that was used before and just added new topics. I was expecting all projects to be generated but they were not. I followed the instructions to generate the new topics.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello!  I'm new to this discussion board and am hopeful that someone will jump in to help me.  I have RoboHelp 9 installed on a Windows 7 64-bit laptop.  I am unable to create a new project or view the properties of an existing one.  Any ideas you can offer are appreciated.  THANKS!

Missing TOC books & topics in RH Server output -- is there a fix??

RH9, RH Server 9,WebHelp Pro

I've seen a post a few months old now reporting the problem of nested books and topics not showing up in WebHelp Pro RH9 Server output even though they display fine in the local output before and after publication.

Has there been a fix for this?

I have a large project, over 400 topics,  and it seems to affect books that are nested at level 4 and below. I have a level 3 book with several level 4 books inside it. The published output shows only the first level 4 book, and its contents, but then it omits the remaining level 4 books in that group and jumps to the next level 3 book.

This is not a merged project.

When I run the TOC report, all content is shown correctly in the report.

We're moving away from compiled help (.chms) and towards either WebHelp or possibly QtHelp, but I need some WebHelp samples to show off. Post your links here or email me directly at mwhisler@altera.com.

Missing Text Bug?

- RH 7.01.001

- Word 2003

I'm working on creating a printable manual from a localized CHM file (Spanish). This CHM file was originally created from an English RH project (RH 6 or 5). The .htms inside that English CHM were translated, recompiled, and distributed to customers. Now I'm using this translated CHM to create a printable manual. I've done this often in past versions of RH.

To create my printable manual, I decompiled the CHM file, created an HHP file, and then created a new HTML Help project inside RH 7 by importing that HHP. Typically, I then export the project into .doc files. However, I'm running into an unusual problem I've never experienced (or maybe I just never noticed it before) when generating the actual .doc files. Here's the problem:

Some topics in the .doc file are completely missing their text (only the topic title exists). Others have only part of their text exported, sometimes cutting off in mid paragraph!

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround? I need to get this information exported into .doc format so I distribute this manual to our customers.

I'm not entirely sure what's causing this. But it seems if I make a simple change to affected .htm topics (like put in a space somewhere and then delete it) and then resave the .htm, the doc export then exports everything for that topic. The problem is I can't trust the print export. Also, I don't have a reliable way of knowing which topics are already affected, other than looking through my hundreds of pages.

Page number not being removed from cross-reference

Hi all,

I'm using TCS 3 with my FM files linked to RH.

I have a cross-reference format that looks like this.

step 5 on page 1-6

In FM, the cross-reference is defined as follows:

<cross-ref>step <$paranum> on page <$paranum[h1,h1f_first,h1r_roman]><$pagenum>

I can't map this in Robohelp simply as step <$paranum>, possibly because there are two paranums in this cross-reference format.

When I generate the Webhelp, the cross-reference still appears as :

step 5 on page 1-6.

Is there any way to map this in RH so that the page number is removed?  Preferably without having to modify my FrameMaker files?

Thanks in advance.

RoboHelp 2017 - Some links in Responsive HTML5 output are broken on iPhone

Hello,

we are currently using Adobe RoboHelp 2017 to create the help system for our new product. We really liked the Indigo layout, so we customized it (heavily) and applied it. That is working great so far.

However, I noticed today that some of the links in the topics themselves are not working on iPhone (iPhone SE and iPhone 6). When I tap them, the same page is just reloaded and sometimes after the tap, the content is no longer scrollable.

I thoroughly tested the links on other devices (Android Galaxy S4 mini, iPad, Android Galaxy Tab S2, iMac, various Windows 10 browsers) and the links work everywhere else.

You can check this behavior yourself on iPhone: For example, in CELUM Marketing Project Management Help the links (light blue, bold text) in the section "First steps" don't work at all and only reopen the same page ("Get started") again, while the links in the bullet list on the same page work fine.

On other pages it is also wildly different between links and pages and I can't really see a pattern why some links are failing while others are not.

I would really appreciate your help with this problem, thanks very much.

Technical details:

RoboHelp 2017 Version 13.0.1.279 - I haven't installed Update 2 yet after I found out that the search is broken in that one.

We are also using the link_to_dropdown.js script provided by William Van Weelden, but the links on the "Get started" page don't lead to a dropdown, just to normal RoboHelp topics.

Bookmark links showing up as broken links

Hi,

As part of my robohelp project (RH2017) i've begun adding 'in-page' hyperlinks, which jump to a later sub-heading in the same article (but not adding these bookmarks to the ToC).

As is standard with this type of link, I tag the target sub-heading with a relevant 'id' and then create the hyperlink simply as <a href=#id>Link</a>

Unfortunately once this is added, despite it working correctly, Robohelp identifies it as a broken link.

Has anyone else come across this? The concern is that these start to build up and I miss a genuine error in future.

Should I be doing this via some other process?

Many thanks,

David

Repeating Bookmark links in project

$

I am having this strange issue with a few different RH projects I am working on. With certain bookmarks, the system will create this repeating miasma of links that repeat the bookmarks over and over again.

For instance:

topic#Bookmark leads to topic#bookmark#bookmark and then topic#bookmark#bookmark#bookmark and so on.

Trying to open the affected projects becomes bogged down in this recursive hell of bookmarks. The main issue is that this results in an error for each instance of the this problem:

Error.gif

Here is a screen shot of me trying to update the help. This was after about 20 minutes of clicking 'OK' to the error above.

Robo_Hellp.gif

I have recently deleted these files, but they appear in my locally saved copy of the project as well.

Now, our team uses SharePoint, with copies of the project saved locally on our machine. For whatever reason, this keeps happening to projects I generate.

Does anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?

Topics appearing in bold in CHM file

I'm using RoboHelp X5 for Word to create HTML help. The resulting CHM file contains some topics that appear in bold font. This does not happen if I generate a WinHelp (HLP) file, nor is it that way in the actual Word document.

Any ideas what's going on?

RoboHelp 9 gives an out of memory error and crashes when I try to import or link a Frame 10 file or

I have Tech Suite 3. If I start a new RoboHelp project and try to import or link Frame files, RoboHelp tries for a while, then I get an Out of Memory error and the program crashes.

I opened one of the sample projects and was able to link to one of my frame files without any problem, so it seems to be an issue with creating something new.

Any suggestions?
