Responsive HTML5 Compilation Problem on RoboHelp2015 on Windows 10

I have recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 and installed RoboHelp 2015 on it. According to my IT department, this is the original release of RoboHelp 2015, and there are not patches or updates installed (we did not purchase this part of the package).

 

When I compile my project to Responsive HTML5, I am unable to open any of the topics in Chrome or Edge. If I expand the TOC and click a topic link, the topic briefly displays but then disappears; the TOC also collapses. Also, even though the project contains an index and glossary, they are not visible or displayed. Lastly, full-text search does not work.

 

Can someone help me understand what is broken - or how to figure out what's broken?

 

I'm not sure that any other topic in the forum covers this, so I'm asking. I apologize if there's an answer out there.

Robohelp 2015 - Analytics/Reporting/Feedback

What options are available for Robohelp 2015 (responsive HTML5) analytics/reporting and user feedback? Robohelp Server apparently isn't an option. I have considered Google Analytics, but judging by another post based on Robohelp 7, it wasn't a good option. I don't know if that has changed with Adobe's newest product, however. For user feedback, I have looked at embedding Wufoo feedback forms. They work, but it looks like I would need to create a separate form for each page. That would certainly turn into a major headache. I'm hoping Rh 2015 has these features built-in and I am somehow overlooking them. I doubt that is the case with the amount of research I have been doing, though. Any tips, tricks, and advice is greatly appreciated!

Context-Sensitive Help not working for CHM output

I have two Help file Projects and both are to generate as .CHM with Context-sensitive mapping. For one of the .CHM, the context-sensitive works. For the other, it does not. Both .CHM files are identical with slight changes in terms of the contents and they can be used for the same program because the Map IDs are the same. It is just wording in the topics that differs.

 

I have checked on the .hhp file and I see that the ALIAS and MAP sections are there and the Map ID files (with extension .h) are also there.

 

What else do I need to check?

HTML Marquee taking data from an external text file

I need to create a marquee which takes text from an external text file, so that when i change the text in the file, the marquee also changes. the marquee is placed in the header and displays on every page. Ihave no idea how to link to the external file. Any help will be appreciated.

Blank pages created in word when generating printed documentation!!

Hello Everyone!

 

I am new to Robohelp and have had no previous training but know fairly about how to use it. One error which is coming in my way of generating a printed documentation is that when the word file is generated, it is adding some additional blank pages which is not visible in word doc. But, when converting word file to PDF after final styling of the doc, the PDF file shows the blank pages. Have tried to resolve the issue but couldn't get through it!

 

Request you to please help me on this one!

You are most likely here with a problem that needs solving. Of course you can just post your issue and wait for someone to come along and supply an answer. But please take a moment and read these "rules of the road". They have been designed to help you get the right answer fast.

The time of those who voluntarily support the forums is limited. Help them by seeing if the question has been asked and answered before.

 

As you type the search term, you will see a list of topics appear that may contain the link to just what you are looking for. Otherwise click the links to show all the results or limit the list to just threads in the forum category you are searching in.


Please note that during your search, you may find similar questions. Please resist the urge to simply append your question onto an older post you found while searching. Odds are that if a question has been asked more than a month ago and it hasn't been answered by the time you found it, there is no answer. Please ask your question in a totally new thread of its own.

 

It also means you get a quicker answer.

Choose ONE category, post a SINGLE time, then exercise patience.

We realize that you are anxious and are hoping for a fast answer. And we really do our best to provide answers as quickly and accurately as we can.

 

What happens if you post multiple times in different categories is that one person may respond to one post while someone else responds to the other, both giving different and sometimes conflicting answers. The whole thing gets messy and you are no nearer to getting a good answer. It wastes everyone's time and doesn't help you.


The next person that comes along with the same problem finds a solution that may not be the best one. They will not search further and will go away disappointed. Another time that person could be you!


Don’t sweat whether you have posted in the correct category for your question. Do the best you can. If it’s in the wrong category, we can move the post to the appropriate forum if it fits better there.

Make sure your wording is clear.

Examples of bad wording:


"I clicked Finish in the layout wizard but no help was generated."

 

Something like the above would cause the following questions to be raised:

  • Did it start and then hang?
  • Was there an error message?
  • Was there any information in the Output pod?

 

Posting a subject line of NEED HELP!!! or RoboHelp Sucks Cheese!!!

 

Subject lines such as these don't help us easily determine if we are able to help you. Please be respectful of everyone's time and use a meaningful subject line.

Avoid comparative terms.

State 5,000 topics rather than "my project is large".

 

Too often we see people refer to their "large" project when talking about a project with just a couple of hundred topics.

 

Believe us, that is not large.

Include screenshots where this helps. Use the camera icon rather than attaching the image.

For example:

If you add an image using the camera icon, it appears in your post immediately.


If you use the Attach Files link below the post area, the attachments are queued and must be approved by a forum admin in order to see them.


Guess which way gets you a quicker answer?

Don’t insert your E-Mail address.

Remember that the forums are searchable using Google, YAHOO or other search engines.


This means you open yourself up for spammers to harvest your address.


You really don’t need more unwanted E-Mail messages from the dying millionaire in the Nigerian hospital do you?

Broken links created by Robohelp2019 conversion

I am running Robohelp 2019.0.4.

 

Converting a Robohelp Classic project to Robohelp 2019 breaks links in my TOCs.

There are NO broken links in the Classic project, yet the 2019 broken now shows many broken links.

 

Why is this happening and how can I rectify this without touching every single one of these links?

Can I hide an existing topic from view in TOC and Search?

I've seen several approaches on this forum for ways to create a help topic and mask it from specific users, or from everyone except via a link.  However, all those approaches seemed to require creating the help topic in a specific way.  We have a situation where the topic already exists, and we would like to hide it from all users temporarily.  The existing topic is out of date and needs to be revised, but we are unable to revise it until some decisions are made by administrators.  In the meantime, we don't want people misled by the old procedures.  Is there a simple solution for this?

Build tags disappearing from RoboHelp 2015 projects

Hi all,

 

Hope you might be able to advise.

 

My colleague and I use RoboHelp 2015 and have 45 projects, version controlled using SVN. We have a working copy on our local machines and we check in and out to the repository regularly, which is on a server elsewhere in the organisation. We have multiple build tags in all projects, some projects alot larger than others.

 

We noticed a few issues with missing tags over the last few days as we were doing a build for our next release. However, we realised this morning that tags are actually being deleted from multiple projects. We had initially hoped it might have been limited to one project but looks like its more widespread than that.

 

We are currently trying to find out the extent of the problem. Its a very serious one for us as trying to recreate the tags and retag the correct material appropriately would be one hell of a challenge if even fully doable.

 

First off, has anyone experienced this before - tags being deleted randomly from projects? Any ideas or leads?

 

We are going to do trawl through our projects and make sure that only the appropriate RH files are under source control... we have a few instances where, for example, the .pss is under source control. Would that be the cause of the issue?

 

Also, can anyone confirm if the ehlpdhtm.js file should NOT be under source control? We know it is used for dynamic HTML effects etc but is it recreated each time we open a project?

No spell checker in RH 2019 "classic"

Hi,

 

When I installed the latest version of RH (I'm still using the "classic" version and not the new version), my spell checker stopped working.

 

I've reinstalled 2019, but it still won't work. No little reminders when I mistype, and the full menu option tells me everything is fine even when I type gibberish.

 

I even tried changing the dictionary to another language (apparently I spell awesomely in French because there were no mistakes. The language I write in is English by the way).

 

Anyone got any suggestions?

Is there a way to post a .chm to a network drive?

Hi all,

 

I've read numerous posts on this subject, but all seem to indicate there is no way without making registry changes, etc.  I also saw mention of selecting an 'unblocking' checkbox in the .chm file properties, but I see no such option.

 

Since the posts are rather old I'm hoping maybe something has changed and there is a simple way to accomplish putting a .chm file on a network drive.  I need to share one with multiple departments at work and was hoping to put it on SharePoint. I'm using RH11 and Windows 7.  If I can't use a .chm, is there any other 'stand-alone' output from RH11 that can be used across a network?

 

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Is RoboHELP 10 compatible with windows 10 and its associated version of Word?
  • What version of RoboHELP would we need for windows 10 compatibility?
  • Does RoboHELP 2015 comply?

Why do fonts change when help is opened on Mobile devices?

I've generate an HTML5 output using RoboHelp 2015. However, all fonts I've used in my master page have changed when viewed in iphone and tablet devices.

 

Why does it happen? Is there any configuration that I could set on RoboHelp 2015 for avoiding it?

 

I have been searching for it, but I didn't find anything. I would be glad if you could help me.

I need to change the title bar for the chm output so it does not say Please enter project title here...

I tried going thru File>Project Settings but it does not change it...I opened a new project and put in a project title and it worked...I then tried changing that title using the Project Settings and it did not work...the documentation says this is the place to change the output title...I do not know how to get back to the opening dialog of the New Project Wizard so I can actually change it without having to open a whole new project and copying it into the new one...I do not want to do that......

RoboHelp 11 not updating .fpj files

I am running RoboHelp 11 under Windows 8. The project is under Subversion version control (SVN). My problem is that the *.fpj files appear not to update.

 

I have imported several topic files into a folder that already contain topics and an *.fpj file. I do a Save All and Commit the project to SVN. When I subsequently Update the project (to bring the latest version to my local disk) the imported files are not in the Project (though they exist in the disk folder) and the folder fpj file has not been updated.

 

I have local Admin rights on the machine, so I don't think permissions are the cause.

 

Advice and guidance? Please?

Aliasing Problem: res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.htm#mk:

I have had this problem a few times before and I need to get to the bottom of it. 

 

I just aliased about 12 tabs in a dialog box and most of them worked. One, however displays an error message when I hit F1.

 

I looked at the address in properties of the error message and compared it to the address of tabs that worked, and it showed

res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.htm#mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Statistica\Statistica%2013\version6.chm::/redirect/DMNode sA/StabilityAnalysis/WorkspaceNodeStabilityAnalysisEditParametersAdvancedTab.htm

Compared with the link of a aliased file that works:

mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Statistica\Statistica%2013\DMNodesA.chm::/BasicStatistics /StabilityAnalysis/WorkspaceNodeStabilityAnalysisEditParametersGeneralTab.htm

 

So the broken one has res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.htm#mk:

at the beginning and has "redirect" in it. It also points to the wrong project. This is a group of merged projects and we alias in a different project that where the topic resides.  And we are using RoboHelp 7.  I just have to get through this one more release and we are upgrading and reorganizing, but I do have to solve this problem with what we have.

 

Where could this problem happen?  The structures of both topics are the same in the ali file of the project where it is aliased.  I also looked at the h file and it looks correct.

But that Help ID is obviously not pointing to the correct place.

 

 

That one topic displays in the TOC correctly, but doesn't show up in search.  The rest do.

 

I have used the map ID to unmap and remap many times and it doesn't make any difference.

 

Does anyone know what I can do or what file I can edit to fix this problem? It's already taken up way too much of my time.

FM insets - PDF images do not display in RH

Using multiple versions of FM (10 and 2015), using insets in FM, inserting images in the FM insets by reference, inserting images as PDF files because the quality is good, linking FM book in RH....

 

The PDF figures do not display in RH and display as blank white spaces. So no PDF images are output to help files, such as Microsoft HTML help (CHM). Other formats can be used for images, such as PNG, but the quality degrades in RH.

 

The same applies to equations. They are blank in RH and have to be converted to PNG and inserted as an image/figure in FM in order to display with low quality in RH.

 

Is there any way to use PDF images when linking FM files with insets in RH?

Import project from RoboHelp to FrameMaker

Hello,

 

I have a project that I would like to import from RoboHelp 2017 into FrameMaker version 10. I have two major questions that perhaps you can help me with:

 

1) Are these product versions compatible or do I need other versions that would enable the content import?

2) How do I achieve the actual import? What is the step-by-step process/procedure in FrameMaker?

Search engine does not return results in IE for Responsive HTML5 help

I'm using RoboHelp 2017 to generate responsive HTML5 help. I noticed that, while the search function works for both Chrome and Firefox, it does not work when the help is opened in IE 11. I tried this from both a web server and a file server with the same results. I experimented a bit with the search settings in RoboHelp but to no avail. RoboHelp 2017 is up-to-date with patches. Has anyone else seen this issue (and found a solution)?
