where is robosource control?

I've just updated my system and went from Windows XP to Windows 7 and had to reinstall the Tech. Communication Suite 3 but can't find how to install robosource. On my windows XP system there was a folder under the progream directory titled Robosource but it's not longer there. I checked in the Adobe directory...nothing...in the Robohelp 9 directory....nothing.

 

can anyone help?


No Search results in Robo Server

I have been having many issues with the server 8. It works great for a few weeks then the Search stops working. "No results". I have read through the threads and other have issues getting the results they want but I can't get anything now. Cleared output folders and even deleted the project from the server and republished.

This happened once before and through trial and error it started working again. I tried so many things I’m not sure what worked before. I will try about anything at this point to get things working again.

Extra space in the first row of steps

Hi,

 

I am generating print output from RoboHelp 2015. I observed an extra space in the begining of each step.

linked pdfs from chm do not work in windows 8/explorer 11

I get the x broken link in top right corner... I tried all the solutions from changing reader settings to IE settings... no luck. the chm links works fine when opened on windows 7 and the pdfs open in multi screen and epub output. This is definitely a Windows 8/IE/Adobe Reader issue and it needs to be solved very soon or I may not have a job...

Map IDs to Destinations in PDF output - Possible?

I've searched for whether this can be done from Robohelp but all my queries are matching the FM Named Destinations to PDF, which I know how to use, but is not the particular goal.  It seems there should be a way to convert MapIDs in RH to Destinations in PDF but I have not found anything that indicate the Printed Doc Single Source workflow supports this. I'm probably missing something obvious. :/

Customizing Breadcrumbs in RoboHelp7

Can breadcrumbs be customized based on TOC? Or can they be customized to where the first link in the breadcrumb, the "Home" link (unless you've modified the name), can link to the book where the topic came from, rather than linking to the default page for the entire help file? For example, if you have a structure as follows:

Introduction
Home
Buttons
Account Services
Checking
Ordering Checks
Stop Payment

Can the breadcrumb read Account Services > Checking > Ordering Checks, rather than Home > Account Services > Checking > Ordering Checks? Where when you would click Account Services, it would take you to the Account Services Overview. The Home link, takes the user back to the Home topic, which isn't always useful, especially in this case, and also when using context-sensitive help. I may be missing something here.

Anyone found a workaround for this, or have any feedback?

RoboHelp 7 Printed Documentation

I am working in Vista with Word 2007. I have not had any issues with RoboHelp to this point and...

I established my Printed Documentation layout standards and selected 'Finish'. Rather than receiving a word document, I received the following messages:

Marcros disabled. Refer to online help or documentation of host application to determine how to enable macros.
and
The Word VBA macros version registered is incorrect. Please reinstall printed documentation.

I modified the Word Macro settings to "Disable all macros except digitally signed macros". I have not changed anything about my RoboHelp installation.

What should my next step be?




Field Codes Printing in Header for Printed Document in Word

When I generate the printed Word document the headers have HTML code in it (see image below).

Also there are certain topics that are duplicated in the printed document.

.xlsx baggage files opening as .zip files when published to RHS 9, Webhelp Output

Hi,

I am in the process of upgrading from RH8 to RH9. During our testing, my .xlsx baggage files are not opening properly once published to RoboHelp Server 8 or RoboHelp Server 9. These files open fine when previewing the project in RoboHelp 9. The problem only occurs once they are published. Our current workaround is to have the users save the file locally and then open it, however that is not a long term fix. This wasn't a problem when we were using RH8.

 

I've looked in all the places I can think of on the server and can't find anywhere that there would be a change in the file associations. Can anyone help?

Tables resized in printed documentation

RoboHelp HTML Version 6
I create a project.
I add topics using Word as my editor.
I add tables to the topics. All of them are specified as being 7.6" wide (740 or 760 pixels when viewed on a screen, perfect for 800x600).
Also, when I print with a 0.45" margin on each side, 7.6" is the perfect width for printed documentation.

I spend 3 months creating this project with 150 pages of printable documentation.

I go to export to either .DOC or .PDF and get the same results either way:
Around 50% of my tables have been shrunk to 6" wide. The other tables are still at 7.6" wide.

I call in to Adobe technical support and explain this. They try to replicate the issue and are able to replicate it. They don't have an answer right away but agree it should not be acting like this. The rep and I phone and e-mail each other for a few days. I eventually end up talking to another rep who also cannot provide an answer. It is escalated to her supervisor, who tells me he also does not have an answer, but he will escalate it to Level 2 Technical Support.

Level 2 called me and stated that this is "expected behavior," that RoboHelp does this on purpose.
"Shrinks HALF of my tables to 6 inches and leaves the other half at 7.6 inches?"
"No," he replies, "it should shrink them all to 6 inches."

I told him I don't buy this answer, that RoboHelps printed documentation should look the same as it does on the screen.

He says he will have a Level 3 Technical rep call me, but I have not gotten a call.

Can someone please tell me what I need to do to have my printed documentation come out looking the way it does on the screen?

RoboHelp HTML 10 and SVN

Hello,

 

 

We are experiencing issues when using RoboHelp HTML 10 with SVN.

 

I have created a small project containing two topics and checked it into SVN. My colleague can then get the project from SVN and the topics appear within the RoboHelp interface as expected. However, if I then add new topics into the RoboHelp project and check them into SVN, when my colleague gets the files (which appear on his hard drive as expected), they are not picked up within the RoboHelp interface.

 

I have read this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1072217), however deleting the CPD file either manually or setting the check box in RoboHelp has not made a difference.  

 

There was no issue using RH9 and SVN - this is a new phenomenon (the project I have created is a small test project, but our larger, production project is experiencing the same problems). We have a basic set up - we don't use a PushOK plugin for RoboHelp; we have set the CPD and PSS files to ignore in SVN.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated since if this cannot be fixed it would be a major issue for us.

Generate PDF crashes RoboHelp 7

Every time I try Generate PDF it crashes RoboHelp 7. I have also tried enabling the PDF generation in the Printed Documentation single source layout. Has anyone else experienced this and can you provide a solution? I am trying this with the sample help project Customer Care, as well as my own help projects. Thanks.

RoboHelp integration with Git version control

Does anyone know if RoboHelp 9 can be integrated with Git version control?

 

My company is thinking about switching from TFS to this open source product, but I need to make sure that it is compatible with RoboHelp. I can't find a definitive answer on the web, so I wondered if anyone on the forum has had any experience of it?

SideBySide Error

I just happened to look at my system event log, and I see a bunch of "SideBySide" errors. They are related to the rhcl command line compile that I'm running from a batch file. The help output appears to be fine, but I'd like to track down what's going on.

Has anyone run into this?

Any way to designate anchor tag locations?

Hi,

 

I'm a prospective RoboHelp customer -  currently using Frame with WebWorks. I'm just starting to evaluate RoboHelp as an alternative and one of the things high on my wish list would be the ability to apply a custom marker in Frame that could be converted to an anchor tag in the WebHelp format output.  My content supports a set of fairly sophisticated scientific analytical tools, and there are many instances in which multiple elements in setup dialogs or other configuration screens warrant extended explanation, but I don't wish to chunk my help topics into an excessive number of small sections.

 

So it would be nice to be able to provide links somewhat like the Microsoft HTML "What's This?" function in which the link would open a larger topic at the relevant subsection.

How do I update linked FM files without losing TOC entries or Map IDs?

Hi,

I'm using RH 10 with linked FM 11 files to create a WebHelp project and this is what happens when I do an update or force update of a linked file in the RH project:

 

  • After the update, the topic that contains updated content gets deleted from project TOC in RH.
  • After the update, any Map IDs assigned to the topic that contains the updated content are deleted.

 

Can someone please advise how to update a linked file without losing TOC entries or Map IDs?

Image quality in Robohelp

I have a linked Framemaker book with images throughout. The image quailty in the finished Robohelp Webhelp html isn't very good.

 

What are the "best practices" etc. that will get me decent image quality?

 

Also, how can I get an image to spawn a larger version of itself when clicked?

Cannot generate PDF with RH10

I have searched the forum and Peter Grainge's site and not found a solution to this problem that worked.

 

I have a new installation of RH10 on Windows 7 sp1. It was installed as a trial and then licensed. I do not have the complete Adobe Acrobat -- only the add-on that was installed with RH.

 

I used RoboHelp HTML to create a simple webhelp project and attempted to generate a PDF from it with the single source layout for Printed Documentation. The following error occurred:

Internal error encountered,  Failed to generate Printed Documentation.

 

 

 

RoboHelp can successfully create a PDF of a single topic. It can create a PDF with Review > Create PDF for Review.  It can successfully create a doc from this project, and Word is able to save that doc as a pdf.

 

RH can open the projects that it created but cannot open the sample projects. The sample directories are read-only and I cannot reset them. I do not know why.

 

I uninstalled RH and reinstalled it. The problem is still occurring.

 

I am baffled. I am an inexperienced RH user so the problem might be a simple one. I would be grateful for any advice.

New topic not appearing in merged index

  1. I have used @Peter Grainge’s “Merging Help” document for a few years now (at least since RoboHelp 8)
  2. Now using RoboHelp 10. Internet Explorer 9.
  3. I created the topic. Created a Map ID for the topic
  4. Added to the index.
  5. Saved the project.
  6. Generated the parent (parent already had the child project in its TOC from years back). Content setting for Index is: “Default Index”. Navigation setting for Preferred Format is: “DHTML”.
  7. Generated the child. Content setting for Index is: “Default Index”. Navigation setting for Preferred Format is: “DHTML”.
  8. Copied the parent and child  whdata, whgdata, whxdata folders to folders outside the project along with the generated results for the parent and child.
  9. TOC is synchronized, Index appears, but the new topic does not.

Did I miss a step?

 

I did not add the topic to the browse sequence.
