Problem with Indigo Layout TOC with Merged Projects

If I try to use the new "Indigo" layout in RH 2017 with a project that has merged child projects, the TOC works in one direction only.

 

By this I mean I can use the TOC to navigate to topics in the child projects, but if I move to another page using a browse list, or by searching for another topic and selecting that from the search results, the TOC does not update properly to show the current page selection. If I switch the master project back to the older "Charcoal_Grey" layout, the TOC behaves as it should.

 

You can re-create this by creating two empty clean projects and linking these to a new master project. The TOC works in both directions on topics inside the project that you're in, but it does not work in the reverse direction for topics in a child project when viewed from the master project. Switching to "Charcoal_Grey" resolves the problem.

 

Although I can continue to use the "Charcoal_Grey" layout, I do like the new Indigo design and would prefer to adopt it throughout our systems, but without the TOC working in the reverse direction, it's easy to get lost in a large site.

 

Further to this, I discovered today that the breadcrumb hyperlinks don't appear to work properly in all cases - although this could be a separate problem. I'm testing this further as they sometimes work so I need to identify the circumstances around when they do and don't work.

How to launch index.html from Box / Dropbox/ Drive?

Hi

 

We want to use Box to store and share folders/ files among a selected group of users.

 

We are publishing RH11 webhelp outputs and want to launch index.html files directly from this directly. Is it possible? If yes, please suggest how.

Indigo layout index has keywords and subkeywords at same level

I'm using the Indigo HTML 5 layout in RH2017. The index in my help project contains keywords and subkeywords. However, the subkeywords are listed at the same level as the keyword. This causes the index to look like it's in non-alphabetical order, because it's not clear to the user which are keywords or subkeywords.

 

Here is a screenshot with the Indigo layout:

And here is the same index in a CHM output. The subkeywords are at a different level.

Is there a way to reproduce the CHM-style nesting of the index with the Indigo layout?

Why is my images folder not viewable from within the RoboHelp "Project Manager" tab?

Why can I not see my images folder (IMAGES_ web) when viewing the folders in the Project Manager tab?

Might it be because I probably created the IMAGES_web folder when I was in Windows Explorer?

Is there a way to make the IMAGES_web folder viewable in the "PRoject Manager" tab in the RoboHelp project?

 

 

(I'm using RoboHelp 2015. This is a project that I opened from RoboHelp 8 and have been adding, updating and deleting the contents of project -- htm files, image files, etc. in this recent version -- 2015 -- of RoboHelp)

Snippets containing popup links: Popups appearing in wrong place

This is in a WebHelp output, published using RH 2015. It contains a handful of snippets, some of which contain links that open popups.

 

In the output, when I click one of these snippets' popup links, the popup opens in the lower-left corner of the frame instead of adjacent to the clicked link. This means the popup frequently appears below the visible segment of the topic, as if clicking the link did nothing at all.

 

How do I get snippet popups to appear next to their links, like regular content popups do?

Shifted images

I explain the problem:

- 4 years ago I created a manual with FrameMaker (may be FM10, I don't remember) and created on-line help with RoboHelp.

- 2 weeks ago, I needed to upgrade the manual and have added some parts with FrameMaker2015. Similarly, I imported this manual to RoboHelp2015 as a new project (I have changed my computer). The results was very strange: The new chapter located at the beginning of the manual was very fine and some old parts was fine too up to a specific line highlighted in green in the RoboHelp project. The figure1 shows the frontier: above the text and figures are not highlighted in green color and the text/figures are perfect: see figure2. All the manual below this frontier has some problems with images: they are shifted to the right, see figure 3. I have made the test by copying in fm the text with problem images to the beginning of the manual where no problem appears: in RH the results are the figure 2 and figure 3.

It seems that conditional tag are present, but I cannot remove them. More precisely: if I remove them in RH, each time I update the manual from FM, the conditional are back. In the FrameMaker manual, I have no code, no tag at this place (green frontier).

Yesterday, I upgraded to TCS2017 and I have exactly the same problems: no change.

 

Could you help me please

I hope someone can help me. I was using RoboHelp 9 before and recently got the trial version for RoboHelp 2017. When I opened my project using 2017, it asked if I wanted to import and upgrade my project so I went ahead and did that. My previous project under RoboHelp 9 was in WebHelp layout. However, in 2017, we are trying to generate and publish the same content in Responsive HTML5 layout.

 

I created a new "layout" for my existing project file and was able to generate and publish the old webhelp to the Indigo theme for responsive HTML5. However, these project file feeds/publishes to a master project file. When I open up the master project file and try to generate/publish it, RoboHelp 2017 freezes and stops working. The popup says "Generating content 'Content'... and freezes. If it helps, the "Output view" says "Processing Full-text search data..." and then that's when the popup appears.

 

Another popup appears and says "Adobe RoboHelp 2017 has stopped working" and then I have to close the program.

 

Any ideas as to why this could be happening?

Importing Framemaker files

I've had success importing smaller files (100 - 200 K), but they are the exception. Now I have to do the large dudes. 700+K. I set up the Paragraph tag conversions and click Finish. Robo sends a blue progress bar halfway across the screen and stops processing. Any ideas?

creating links to the bookmark between topics

Hi, there(especially Captiv8r_)

(After i found out you are the only one who answers in this Robo forum lol)

 

I'd like to make hyperlinks to the specific paragraph of the specific topic, not to just entire topic.

 

I see there is a "Bookmark" function in the manual, but it looks like the bookmarks is only linked within the topic, not between topics.

 

 

Is there anyway i could make bookmarks link to between topics, or

 

make hyperlinks to the specific paragraph of the specific topic?

RoboHelp 2017 crashes when generating a Master Project

RoboHelp Reporting

Dear All,

 

I am a quite new user of RoboHelp and I am particularly interested in the tool's reporting capabilities. I need to be able to report the most opened articles, the most searched articles, and the most searched keywords.

Going through the out of the box reports, I didn't find any report that could satisfy 100% these requirements, so, do you know if it is possible to report the list of the most opened, searched topics and Keywords?

RoboHelp 2017 fails to launch the second time.

I install 2017, restart, launch RoboHelp 2017 and it opens fine. I close the app and attempt to reopen it. Nothing happens. There is no process, no nothing. I have to uninstall and reinstall to get it to launch again but the second time continues to fail to open. I installed update 1 and it continues to happen with update 1. Any ideas?

RH2015 Responsive HTML5 and Microsoft Edge

I'm seeing the following page display in Microsoft Edge (Windows 10) when displaying the main page of my Responsive HTML5 output:

This remains indefinitely. I was told by Adobe support (TCS Support) to perform the following steps:

  1. Close MS Edge if it is open.
  2. Go to Control Panel> Internet options> Security Tab> Click on Trusted Sites> Then click on Sites
  3. Uncheck the option of “Require server verification (https: ) for all sites in this zone.”
  4. If you are publishing your project somewhere on the C drive of your computer then type file://C in the “add this site in the zone” field and click Add.
  5. Then click on close > click ok

 

However, this didn't have any effect. The same set of generated HTML5 loads fine in Edge if it's hosted on a network drive. This does seems to be related to local file/site settings, but the above sequence didn't seem to be enough to alter this.

 

Does anyone else have any ideas? The same output works perfectly fine in IE, Firefox, and Chrome.

RH9 Bulleted Lists to Printed output in Word

Hi,

 

I am using RH9 and Word 2007 and once again I find myself very frustrated with the issues of bulleted lists in printed documentation.

 

I have read much of what is available here on this issue and I have also read 'Single Level Lists' from Peter Grainge.

 

As suggested I have defined both a list and a paragraph styles in RH so the code looks like this:

 

<ul type="disc">
<li class="BulletList1_List"><p class="BulletList1">View Source</p></li>

<li class="BulletList1_List"><p class="BulletList1">Edit template</p></li>
</ul>

 

I then want to map my paragraph style list 'BulletList1' to my defined bullet style in my MS Word template (Style Mapping.dot)

This if I understand correctly will not work, so I map it as suggested to the 'List' style as supplied in the template.

The output appears as follows:

·         View Source

·         Edit template

 

However, if I change the 'List' style in Word to have a different bullet then the 'List' style is no longer available for mapping and the output has the RH style but is displayed  as above.

 

The only solution I have found is that in the Word document I can select all text with the 'List' style (not modified) and then apply my defined bullet style.

Is this my only solution or have I missed something?

When we upgraded from RH11 to RH2015 the upgraded project didn't have any of the topics in it. Is there a way to get the topics to appear without having to import them after the upgrade?

Determining links in a hlp file

Is there a way to find out the link paths in an hlp file?

 

We are converting hlp files using RH's import feature.

 

However, it looks like RH removes links it cannot resolve when you import, and I need to recreate these links.

 

Is there a way to look at the link properties in the hlp files to determine where the old link points?

RoboHelp 9 gives an out of memory error and crashes when I try to import or link a Frame 10 file or

I have Tech Suite 3. If I start a new RoboHelp project and try to import or link Frame files, RoboHelp tries for a while, then I get an Out of Memory error and the program crashes.

 

I opened one of the sample projects and was able to link to one of my frame files without any problem, so it seems to be an issue with creating something new.

 

Any suggestions?

RoboHelp 2017 doesn't launch

I was able to install RoboHelp 2017 and run it, but the application does not launch on subsequent attempts.  It dies silently in the Task Manager.

 

If there is a log file for startup errors, I will be happy to look for it.
