Robohelp 2019 and Related Topics

I used the Related Topics feature in Robohelp 2017. Converting the project to Robohelp 2019 gets rid of those, and there doesn't seem to be a "Related Topics" option. Am I missing something? Is there something in RH2019 that replaces that feature?

Automap Paragraph Styles and Exclude combination

Hi

I am using RoboHelp 10 and FrameMaker 11 as part of TCS 4.0.

In our current version of ISF file, we have mapped FM tags to their RH counterparts individually as the RH style names are different than that of FM tags. Some of the FM tags are also marked as Exclude.

This file is up for revision and we now want to use AutoMap Paragraph Styles feature to make our life easier. I am aware that for this to work, the RH style names should be same as that of FM tags. However, can somebody please tell me how to indicate the FM tags that have to be excluded?

Thanks in advance.

Context-sensitive topic appearance - Indigo template (RH2017)

Hello,

I have heavily customized the Indigo template to suit my company's design standards. All was looking good until I uploaded the new help to our server and tried out context-sensitive help from our application.

I am getting some other kind of page template that I didn't expect. It shows the topic contents only, and doesn't have the TOC/Search etc. At the top left is a link: "Click here to see this page in full context." This link doesn't even work properly - our correct help template flashes and then this odd "context topic" page returns.

If you would like to see what I am talking about, please click: Selecting Similar Objects

I have searched and searched, and cannot figure out where this context-sensitive page is coming from. It's not in Topic.slp that I can find. (Topic.slp is my Default page since I didn't care for the Homepage with its TOC links.) I do not see another page layout or slp page, or special css for this layout. I searched my .css files for the "Indigo" light blue color and I can't find it. I don't want this page... I want my context-sensitive page to display in the same topic page, with search and TOC functionality, etc. as when the help is accessed from our main help command.

Can anyone please help me stop this redirect to this page that does not display the "full context?" Or at the very least, help me know where I can change its appearance?

Thank you very much!

RH2019 - Multi-level list missed in the css-editor

Hello,

in RH2017 I used multi-level list to structure the instructions with intermediate steps and interim result (1. Level: Instruction, 2. Level: intermediate step, 3. Level: interim result). In the css it was the element rh-list. After the migration to RH2019 that does not work anymore...

Any ideas? In the default.css I just found one multi-level list (ol) but I didn't find any option to create my own multi-level list.

Thanks for your help.

No spell checker in RH 2019 "classic"

Hi,

When I installed the latest version of RH (I'm still using the "classic" version and not the new version), my spell checker stopped working.

I've reinstalled 2019, but it still won't work. No little reminders when I mistype, and the full menu option tells me everything is fine even when I type gibberish.

I even tried changing the dictionary to another language (apparently I spell awesomely in French because there were no mistakes. The language I write in is English by the way).

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks,

Nicola

A^ symbol before many special characters

We are creating Microsoft HTML Help CHM output from a RoboHelp 7 HTML project (in English). This problem does not happen for other outputs such as FlashHelp, WebHelp, and Printed Documentation.

This happens with font Arial and Arial Unicode MS.

Some special characters appear fine in RH7HTML, but in the output CHM file a A^ (a capital letter A with a roof on it: Â) appears in front of each of them.

This happens for (for example): copyright, registered, mu, plus-minus, one-quarter, one-half. However, this does not happen for Greek characters and mathematical symbols.

We entered all of these special characters by copying them from Microsoft Word, where they were inserted by Insert > Symbol, where the font was "(normal text)".

Of course, we would not expect that all of Word's special characters appear in HTML output, but we do not know why that A^ character appears. In addition, we might expect it to appear in all HTML output, but it appears only in the CHM files.

Anyhow, this was fine until recently, when this suddenly started happening. We are not aware of any particular changes with RH and our project that could have triggered this.

Out of curiosity, I will paste our list of tested special characters here (just wondering how that will show up in the topic):
©®Âμ±°¼½¾×÷ΑΒΓΔΕΖΗΘΙΚΛΜαβγδεζηθικλμ≤≥∞Σ⅓⅔⅛⅜⅝⅞∫≈≠≡√

Thanks a lot for any advice.

Poor image quality in Webhelp

Hi

I am using FM11-RH10 as part of TCS4.

I have images referenced in FrameMaker book. These images are clear and are of good quality (no blurry text or pixelated graphics).

Now, when I import the FM book into RH, the image clarity is slightly affected (text in the image gets blurry), but still are of acceptable quality. However, when I publish it as Webhelp, the text is hardly readable.

I browsed through these forurms and found that selecting/ deselecting the Adobe Distiller option in Settings file gives better output. I tried that but it did not help.

Any other workarounds?

Thanks in advance.

Broken links created by Robohelp2019 conversion

I am running Robohelp 2019.0.4.

Converting a Robohelp Classic project to Robohelp 2019 breaks links in my TOCs.

There are NO broken links in the Classic project, yet the 2019 broken now shows many broken links.

Why is this happening and how can I rectify this without touching every single one of these links?

RoboHelp 10, HHC4006: Warning: The file "xxxx.gif" is already listed in the [FILES] section of the project file.

Hi RoboCommunity:

I am using RoboHelp 10 and producing HTML help .chm

I am lone-writer crafting help for a new product. The company purchasing the product and online help provided me with one of their help files, so I could produce something similar.

I have several unique .htt files. Each type provides a unique look and feel (yellow mean one thing, blue means another, etc).

The compiled help includes the following warning:

HHC4006: Warning:

The file "images\qual_01.gif" is already listed in the [FILES] section of the project file.

I have a total of 5 of these warnings. Each warning is associated with a different .gif image.

I have searched the directory for possible duplicates, but there are none.

I used RoboHelp many years ago until my twin girls arrived. They are now 14. My previous version was RH v4. I think this is the correct forum to pose this question. Please forgive my post if it is in error.

Thank you for any assistance.

Robohelp 2019 Related Topics Titles

$

When you update a "Robohelp Classic" project to Robohelp 2019 the resulting related topics lists are populated by the filenames of the topics including any underscores. While you can set fonts and capitalization you cannot actually edit the Topic Title in the Related Topics Properties.

It seems the only way to correct the situation is to delete the topic from the Related Topics list and then add it back. When you add the topic back in the topics Title is used instead of the filename. It would be nice if it used the title during the conversion. Is there some way to get that to occur during the update?

In Robohelp Classic and previous versions of Robohelp you could edit the titles of topics included in the "Related Topics." This feature is lacking in Robohelp 2019. It would be nice to be able to do that.

Page number not being removed from cross-reference

$

Hi all,

I'm using TCS 3 with my FM files linked to RH.

I have a cross-reference format that looks like this.

step 5 on page 1-6

In FM, the cross-reference is defined as follows:

<cross-ref>step <$paranum> on page <$paranum[h1,h1f_first,h1r_roman]><$pagenum>

I can't map this in Robohelp simply as step <$paranum>, possibly because there are two paranums in this cross-reference format.

When I generate the Webhelp, the cross-reference still appears as :

step 5 on page 1-6.

Is there any way to map this in RH so that the page number is removed?  Preferably without having to modify my FrameMaker files?

Thanks in advance.

Robohelp 2019 not importing Conditional tags correctly

$

Annnnd yet another problem with 2019 (the new version, not the classic).

I've just tried importing a project to see if variables are correctly imported (they are on the two projects I tried), and discovered that RH is now not importing conditional tagged text correctly.

So, in Classic, the code is:

<li class="list-ordered">Select<?rh-cbt_start condition="Intranet_Only" ?>

  <?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Intranet_Only" ?><span style="font-weight: bold;">Tools</span><?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Intranet_Only" ?>:   <?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Intranet_Only" ?><span style="font-weight: bold;">Clause

  Organiser...</span><?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Hidden, Hide" ?>not

  <?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Desktop_Only" ?><span style="font-weight: bold;">Admin</span><?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Desktop_Only" ?>:   <?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Desktop_Only" ?><span style="font-weight: bold;">Organiser</span><?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Desktop_Only" ?>   from the menu, and click the <?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Desktop_Only" ?><span

  style="font-weight: bold;">Clause</span><?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-cbt_start condition="Desktop_Only" ?>

  tab<?rh-cbt_end ?>.</li>

Horrible, right-- for those that can't work it out, it's supposed to be <intranet_only><hide><desktop_only> but the tags multiply as you write. Basically I have two sentences butting up to each other, one for each version of the software, and a <hide> in the middle because RH got a bit dodgy about having two Conditional tags next to each other.

So the text for Intranet should be:

         Select Tools: Clause Organiser...

And the text for Desktop...

Select Admin: Organiser from the menu, and click the Clause tab.

However, the new 2019 version comes up with:

<li class="list-ordered">Select <span data-condition="Others:Intranet_Only" style="font-weight: bold;">Tools</span><span data-condition="Others:Intranet_Only">: </span><span style="font-weight: bold;">Clause Organiser...</span>not <span style="font-weight: bold;">Admin</span>: <span style="font-weight: bold;">Organiser</span> from the menu, and click the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Clause</span> tab.</li>

Simpler, right? Except it's missed out <hide><desktop_only> meaning that the text for Intranet is:

Select Tools: Clause Organiser...not Admin: Organiser from the menu, and click the Clause tab.

And the text for Desktop is:

Select Clause Organiser...not Admin: Organiser from the menu, and click the Clause tab.

Which is just so wrong on both counts. It doesn't even get one version right.

And this has been used throughout the project as two applications use the same help.

We also have another product in the range which is even worse for using Conditional Tags so it's not as though this is a one off for us.

Topics appearing in bold in CHM file

I'm using RoboHelp X5 for Word to create HTML help. The resulting CHM file contains some topics that appear in bold font. This does not happen if I generate a WinHelp (HLP) file, nor is it that way in the actual Word document.

Any ideas what's going on?

Large bullets

Hi,

I am using RH 7.0. My bullet styles use the default discs and squares. In the WYSIWYG editor, the bullets are small and "elegant". However in the preview and in the actual CHM file they are very big, the size of the text, and really very ugly.

Is this correct? If not, how do I make them smaller?

Thanks,
Jackie

Missing Text Bug?

- RH 7.01.001
- Vista OS
- Word 2003

I'm working on creating a printable manual from a localized CHM file (Spanish). This CHM file was originally created from an English RH project (RH 6 or 5). The .htms inside that English CHM were translated, recompiled, and distributed to customers. Now I'm using this translated CHM to create a printable manual. I've done this often in past versions of RH.

To create my printable manual, I decompiled the CHM file, created an HHP file, and then created a new HTML Help project inside RH 7 by importing that HHP. Typically, I then export the project into .doc files. However, I'm running into an unusual problem I've never experienced (or maybe I just never noticed it before) when generating the actual .doc files. Here's the problem:

Some topics in the .doc file are completely missing their text (only the topic title exists). Others have only part of their text exported, sometimes cutting off in mid paragraph!

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround? I need to get this information exported into .doc format so I distribute this manual to our customers.

I'm not entirely sure what's causing this. But it seems if I make a simple change to affected .htm topics (like put in a space somewhere and then delete it) and then resave the .htm, the doc export then exports everything for that topic. The problem is I can't trust the print export. Also, I don't have a reliable way of knowing which topics are already affected, other than looking through my hundreds of pages.
